Subtypes
Standard (Lepitsune Subtype)
Your average lepitsune.
They have a fox-like head and overall body shape, but sprout a (usually) moth-shaped pair of wings from their backs. Their paws are more rodent-like in nature and have opposable thumbs, allowing them to pick up and manipulate objects with reasonable dexterity.
This is the immature form of their species, and they become dragon lepitsunes upon achieving full maturity. At this stage, they focus their energy mainly into granting wishes and learning about the world around them.
Dragon (Lepitsune Subtype)
The fully-matured form of a lepitsune, attained after many years of wish-granting and growth.
Their necks and body grow long and graceful, the halo that usually manifests over their head appears permanently, and they gain an extra pair of wings, both usually taking on an elongated dragonfly-like shape.
In this form, they have the strength to complete a journey back to their home star, but as a result of all their experiences and attachments to the world they grew up in, many are often reluctant to permanently leave and may even choose to stay in their adopted home.
Corrupted (Lepitsune Subtype)
A lepitsune who has had its stardust damaged and altered by overexertion or intense emotional distress.
This occurs when a lepitsune grows desperate or emotional enough to try granting wishes outside their means at the cost of their own health, which damages and destabilises their stardust and which in turn leaves them susceptible to dark matter infection.
This behavior is usually spurred on by a strong attachment for something or someone to the point the lepitsune will turn to self-sacrifice. A corrupted lepitsune's halo permanently shatters, and depending on the severity of their condition will develop abnormal traits.
With sufficient support, friendship and time, they can eventually recover through exposure to healthy stardust, though they remain susceptible to relapsing if not careful. If a corrupted lepitsune is left alone, however, they will spiral both physically and mentally as their stardust continues to destabilise and corrupt and may develop increasingly abnormal mutations.
